Malva Pudding

The Perfect desert suggestion for any occasion and for any time of the day!

Malva pudding is a sweet pudding of South African origin. It contains apricot jam and has a spongy caramelized texture. A cream sauce is often poured over it while it is hot, and it is usually served hot with custard and/or ice-cream.


Ingredients

Pudding:

1 large free range egg

100ml full cream milk

2 table spoons of smooth apricot jam


Sauce:

80g butter

125ml milk


You will need:

Mixing bowl

Whisk

Spatula

Sauce pan (20cm x 14cm x 5cm)


Heat the oven to 180c & grease baking dish

Whisk egg, 100ml full cream milk and apricot jam. Add cake mix and whisk until smooth. Spoon batter into baking dish.

Bake for 18-25 minutes until a skewer comes out clean. While pudding is in the over, begin with your sauce.

Sauce

Heat butter, 125ml milk and sauce mix in saucepan, over a medium heat, stir until the butter has melted, allow to simmer for 5 minutes

Pierce pudding all over, with a fork. Slowly pour sauce over hot pudding. Serve as soon as possible. Vanilla custard or ice cream of your choice may be added!
